Pool Table Dimensions
Pool table dimensions are always determined by the total size of the pool table and not its slate, which makes pool tables different from the snooker table. There are lots of problems when it comes to the dimensions of a pool table because it should have a standard measurement and this is one thing that must be considered even if you are buying cheap pool tables.
The pool table dimensions of the pool tables you see in bars and pubs are most likely 7x4 feet. This has an external measurement of 7x4 feet and the area for playing is said to have a measurement of 6x3 feet. You reduce a whole foot in the dimensions of the pool table to see the measurement of the actual playing area. A 6x3 feet and 6 inch pool table means that it has 5x2 feet in playing area and the same thing applies even to a small sized pool table.
The American type of pool table, another common type of pool table, has the same measurement but their external dimensions have the measurement of about 8x4 feet 6 inches which means that their playing area is 7x3 feet 6 inches. The table which measures 9x5 inches has a wide playing area of 8x4 feet. These measurements are common in slate bed type of pool tables and not the foldaway pool table that has MDF types of beds.
A single piece of slate in a pool table usually measures 7 feet and the other types of pool tables like the bumper pool tables have a slight difference in terms of measurement; though most of the time, you get an 8 ft sized table with one piece of slate. The width or the thickness of the slate is about 5/8 inches on smaller pool tables and an inch more compared to an American table which is 9ft big. Brands such as valley pool tables use this measurement.
The height of almost all pool tables is assumed to be about more or less 32 inches. Now, there are no more problems to what pool table dimensions should be. First of all, correct and accurate measurements are very important. Try to consider the space of the room where you will put the pool table. The space should also include furniture especially when you are planning to put the pool table inside a bar. If the space of the room where you will put the pool table is inadequate, you might want to move objects away from the room or change its location to have more space. Before you take measurements and make plans, you should have a hanging lamp placed in the middle of the location where the pool table will reside. This is the most ideal arrangement when arranging pool tables in a bar. These are all the reasons why pool table dimensions are important and should be taken into consideration. The idea is to save space and have a pleasant atmosphere when playing pool.
